Call for Submissions - LAP25
The second Learning Analytics in Practice event will take place online from June 17-19, 2025 (depending on where in the world you are located (specific start and end times will be posted as schedules are made). Kick-off is tentatively scheduled for June 18, 2025 at 8:00 AM AEST (Sydney).
The Society for Learning Analytics Research is excited to host this important event for Learning Analytics Community members that are focused on implementation, policy, technology innovations, professional development and other practical solutions of Learning Analytics around the world.
Please review the following form to submit to LAP25. Our aim is to make this submission process simple and flexible, meaning that we want to hear from you if the type of presentation you envision is not explicitly listed in this form. We look forward to hearing all about the practical implementations, innovative techniques and strategies that community members around the globe are practicing every day within their different contexts.
Things to keep in mind when submitting to LAP25 (not required but some ideas to consider):
- How does your geographic/political context impact your work (ie. privacy laws in certain countries, socio-economic impacts, etc.)
- How will you engage your virtual audience? Is there a way to make your presentation interactive?
- Do you have a call to action or any type of follow-up to continue the conversation post-LAP25?
Information you'll need for the form:

- Abstract (up to 150 words)
- Who is the target audience for your presentation? (ie. anyone interested in Learning Analytics or teachers and course designers, etc. or software developers, etc.)
- Keywords (up to 10)
- Expected Learning Outcomes
- Full Presentation Description (up to 750 words)
- What is your plan for audience engagement?
- Other co-presenters’ and/or panelists names & affiliations
- Time zone in which you'd like to present

We are also open to ideas from the community, if you have a particular type of session that you envision, please feel free to select "other" and explain the type and style.
- 60-minute Panel
- This should provide 3-5 panelists plus a moderator on a specific topic relevant to Learning Analytics in Practice
- Please list panelists names and affiliations in your submission
- Examples:
- A panel from a featured SoLAR institutional member with panelists who are stakeholders at different levels or areas of their institution and how they implemented certain strategies to implement Learning Analytics.
- A panel featuring individuals from around the world to discuss privacy and ethics and how that impacts their practical implementations within their country/university
- This should provide 3-5 panelists plus a moderator on a specific topic relevant to Learning Analytics in Practice
- Regional Session (20 minutes)
- This session is meant to feature different regions together or separately. The aim is to learn about Learning Analytics challenges within different contexts
- How does LA differ in your country/region?
- How do you overcome the obstacles based on your context?
- Institutional Member Feature (For 2025 SoLAR Institutional Members Only) [20 minutes]
- Successful implementation stories of Learning Analytics at one of our Institutional Members
- LAP Showcase / Demo (20 minutes)
- Demonstrate a Learning Analytics tool or framework
- Showcase presenters will be asked to provide a short 2-5 minute recording to provide in early June to allow attendees to view prior to the sessions to allow more time to engage in the session
- Lightning Talk (10 minutes)
- These would be very short talks about an idea or innovative project. The aim could be to look for collaborators in a certain area of expertise or to brainstorm with the group. In alignment with the practical focus of this event, presenters are encouraged to have a "call to action" to further discussions after their short discussion.
- Lightning talks are not required to fill out the 'Full Presentation Description'
- LAP Challenges (15 minutes)
- List practical questions and problems and ask for solutions and ideas
- 5 minutes for elaborating the problem and 10 minutes for discussion
- Industry Roundtable (60 minutes)
- Featured industry partners on past or current projects with LA / Join other collaborators / How can industry partner with SoLAR community members
- Other:
